£17m talent now ‘considering leaving’ Barcelona amid Manchester United interest

Manchester United are expected to take a completely different approach moving forward with Ineos now calling the shots at Old Trafford.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co will be looking to completely alter Manchester United’s fortunes after 11 tricky years following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

United have been through a number of managers alongside millions of pounds in transfer fees over the last decade and have little to show for it.

The time has come for United to have more of a coherent plan throughout the club and that is what Ineos want to provide.

Ratcliffe will certainly want to end the days of spending considerable fees and wages on players such as Casemiro and Raphael Varane.

Both players have enjoyed incredible careers but have, sadly, been past their best in United shirts.

We may instead see United focus on signing young talents with big potential, hoping to build a great United side of the future.

Manchester United given Mikayil Faye hope

Most of the strong rumours surrounding United feature prospects who could become real stars in the coming years.

One of them is Barcelona prospect Mikayil Faye, who only joined the Catalan giants from Croatian side NK Kustosija last summer.

The Senegalese defender – capable of playing at left back or centre back – has spent his first season in Catalunya playing for the Barca B side.

Four goals in 33 games is a decent return for the defender but he has yet to make a first-team debut.

Reports in March noted that United had shown an interest in signing Faye, who has been hailed as ‘explosive’ by teammate Jules Kounde.

Barcelona weren’t really planning to sell Faye though and reports from Spain in April indicated that a meeting had been held to try and convince him to stay put.

The situation may be changing though as the Daily Mail report that Faye could be sold after all.

Barcelona need to raise funds this summer and Faye is viewed as a talent who could bring in around £17million – even if they would like to keep him.

The La Liga side may begrudgingly let Faye go and that gives United hope of a deal.

Premier League rivals are interested as well though with Arsenal and Liverpool joining United in the race for Faye’s signature.

Mundo Deportivo add that Faye has ‘important offers’ on the table and is now seriously ‘considering leaving’ Barcelona.

Arsenal are mentioned as being a strong suitor right now, so United may need to move quickly in order to avoid missing out on Faye.

Ineos already like Faye

If that £17million price tag is correct, Ineos may well be tempted to cough up the cash.

Ineos tried to bring Faye to Nice in January but failed with a £13million offer as Barcelona stood firm.

Paying just £4million more than that bid sounds appealing, especially given that Faye has been playing international football for Senegal since that offer was made.

United ideally need to add depth at left back and at left-sided centre back given the injury woes of Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez.

Faye fits the bill in a number of regards; age, potential, that versatility to cover multiple roles in defence.

Ineos have already shown how much they like Faye too, so the Barcelona talent certainly makes sense as a summer target – and even more so now Barcelona are considering a U-turn on a potential sale.
