“30 or 35” – Barcelona frontman sets his goalscoring target for the season
Robert Lewandowski appears to be flourishing at Barcelona once again after the return of Hansi Flick.
The German tactician has utilised Lewandowski’s abilities quite well, with the Pole notably leading the scoring charts with four goals in four matches.
There is no doubt that Lewandowski will be one of the favourites to secure the Pichichi trophy come the end of the season and it appears the Pole has already set a target for himself.
Lewandowski targeting 30 goals for the season
In a recent interview, Lewandowski was asked how many goals he would like to score this season.
The former Bayern Munich forward did not hesitate in giving out a lofty but achievable target of 30 goals for the season, even extending it to 35.
“Of course, I want to score more goals than last season, for sure. But of course that would be the goal of scoring more than 30 goals, I don’t know, maybe 35,” Lewandowski said (h/t Kanal Sportowy).
Lewandowski had faced immense criticism last season for his lack of consistency in front of goal. Even then, he was able to rack up 19 goals in the league, just four short of his tally in his first season at the club.
But following a strong start to the new season, Lewandowski is hopeful of breaching the 30 goal mark this time around.
The former Dortmund striker, though, highlighted the fact that he should also receive proper support from his teammates, adding “It also depends on the team. So I hope they give me a lot of chances to score goals.“
Fortunately for him, Barcelona’s creative support has looked far superior this season, much thanks to the addition of Dani Olmo, coupled with Raphinha’s electrifying form.
Barcelona fans will only hope these players can continue their tremendous run of form throughout the course of the campaign.
