Alejandro Balde, Eric Garcia to be fit for Barcelona’s UCL clash with Brest
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick says Alejandro Balde will not be fit for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Brest despite training with the team ahead of the game.
Balde missed the draw with Celta at the weekend due to a knock, but it had been widely reported he would be fit for the team’s next game.
Flick says that is not the case and he’s not yet ready to make his comeback.
“Balde had muscle problems last week and before the game he was the same and we thought he could play but it wasn’t possible,” he told reporters.
“Today he was better and he could be an option for other games but not for tomorrow.”
The news will be a problem for Flick as he lacks back-up options at left-back currently.
Gerard Martin came in for Balde against Celta but was hooked at half-time after a poor first half and replaced by Hector Fort.
Flick does seem to be a big fan of Martin but it could be that Fort continues at left-back on Tuesday night.
