All the matches that FC Barcelona’s internationals will play on the FIFA date
A total of nine FC Barcelona players will be called up by their national teams this week for the September FIFA matchday. The double international matchday marks the start of the UEFA Nations League in Europe, while the 2026 World Cup qualifiers continue in South America, as well as in Asia. There will also be action in CONCACAF with friendlies, as well as in Africa with the qualifying tournament for the 2025 African Cup of Nations. For the Barça internationals, there will only be action in Europe during this break.
Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Ferran will see action with La Roja
Luis de la Fuente has called up four culés for the first double-header of the Nations League, a tournament in which La Roja is the reigning champion. Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal, Pedri González and Ferran Torres will report to the European champions this week for the matches against Serbia (Thursday 5, in Belgrade) and Switzerland (Sunday 8, in Geneva), two away games that are in principle complicated for the National Team after lifting the Euro Cup in Germany. Both matches will be played at 20:45 Spanish time (8:45 PM CEST).
Koundé, Ter Stegen and Lewandowski will also be in the Nations League
The other three Barça internationals who will see action in the UEFA Nations League are Jules Koundé, Marc-André ter Stegen and Robert Lewandowski. The centre-back will make his tournament debut against Italy (Friday 6) and then face Belgium (Monday 9), both games at home. For his part, Ter Stegen will finally take up the German goal after Manuel Neuer’s international retirement against Hungary at home (Saturday 7) and the Netherlands (Tuesday 10, away). In the case of ‘Lewy’, he will be with Poland for the matches against Scotland (Thursday 5) and Croatia (Sunday 8), both away from home.
Fermín and Cubarsí will have two matches with the Spanish U-21
The other two Barça internationals called up for the September FIFA match are Pau Cubarsí and Fermín López. Both will play two matches with the Spain U-21s managed by Santi Denia, both corresponding to the qualifying rounds for the next European Championship in this category. La Roja shares the lead in Group B with Ukraine, both teams with 7 points from 2 wins and 1 draw. The next matches for the National Team will be away, against Scotland (Friday 6) and Hungary (Tuesday 10).
