Ansu Fati injury latest: How long will Barcelona star be out for?
Barcelona forward Ansu Fati has been ruled out of action yet again after sustaining an foot injury in pre-season training.
It’s the latest in a long line of setbacks for the youngster and particularly frustrating as it comes at a time when he’s trying to impress new boss Hansi Flick.
Early reports have suggested that Flick has liked what he’s seen from Fati, after giving him a special training program. The problem is that he won’t get to see much more of him for a little while.
Javi Miguel at Diario AS reckons it’s at least three weeks out for Fati and potentially longer as his latest injury is a tricky one to treat.
“Ansu Fati: plantar fasciitis is an injury with difficult prognosis,” he wrote on X. “Slow recovery and depends a lot on sensations. It can be three weeks or more than a month and a half. Clear example Iñigo last year, almost two months without playing.”
All of which suggests that it’s not likely to be too long a lay-off, but there’s a good chance Fati could miss Barca’s first game of the season against Valencia on August 17.
Fati’s future at the club is also likely to come under the spotlight once again, particularly if Barca sign Nico Williams and increase the competition for places in attack.
