Barça turns down big money offer for Hèctor Fort

FC Barcelona is not even thinking about making money from the young players who are earning a spot in the first team this season. Along with Lamine Yamal, for whom President Joan Laporta mentioned rejecting a 200 million euro offer without naming the club (Paris Saint-Germain), and Pau Cubarsí, another new international player, there is another footballer catching the eye of both Laporta and Deco due to the support of Xavi Hernández. This player is Héctor Fort. At just 17 years old, this natural right-back who can also play on the left has already attracted interest from European football clubs.

In fact, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barça has turned down a 35 million euro offer for the young Barcelona defender. With a contract running until 2025 and a release clause of 10 million euros set before his breakthrough, Barça is working on updating the contract of this full-back who has been with the club since he was a junior. Despite the interest from other clubs, Fort is committed to staying with the club that has been his home, with a release clause that will likely increase, similar to what happened with Lamine Yamal (1 billion euros until 2026) and Fermín López (400 million euros until 2028). Fort will celebrate his 18th birthday on August 2, which will allow him to sign a longer contract, but it seems that the contract update and salary increase will happen sooner.

Fort, who made his debut in Antwerp in the last Champions League match, has already played seven games with the first team (four in the League, two in the Cup, and one in the Champions League), starting in five of them. His most recent appearance was in the 0-3 victory against Atlético de Madrid, where he replaced Joao Cancelo on the left side of the defense. Joan Laporta praised his performance in an interview last Thursday with MD, stating that “the coaches believe he is already a mature player at his age.”

Now, with the U-19

Meanwhile, he continues to grow in experience, like now in the U-19 team. Called up alongside Marc Guiu, he played 45 minutes as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against Slovenia and 90 in the 2-1 draw against Kosovo. Tomorrow, Tuesday, against Austria, there will be another key duel for qualification for the European Championship in Northern Ireland.
