Barcelona and Real Madrid could soon target £25m Tottenham star – Gary Neville
Dejan Kulusevski put in a performance against Manchester City that will surely have caught the eye of some of Europe’s elite clubs, and according to Gary Neville, both Real Madrid and Barcelona may soon come knocking for the Tottenham forward.
Spurs’ talent attracting European giants
Tottenham Hotspur have long been a club that produces or polishes players capable of excelling at the very highest level, yet sales to Europe’s top clubs have been few and far between.
The move of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in 2013 remains a standout moment, with the Welshman going on to become a Champions League legend at the Santiago Bernabéu.
More recently, Pedro Porro has reportedly been on Madrid’s radar, though no concrete move has yet materialised.
While the Spanish full-back continues to impress under Ange Postecoglou, Gary Neville has shifted focus to another Spurs star whom he feels is delivering performances worthy of European royalty.
Dejan Kulusevski, signed for just £25 million, has emerged as a critical figure in Tottenham’s attacking setup. Initially deployed on the wing, the Swede has also proven his ability to thrive in a central role, with his adaptability becoming one of his greatest assets.
Against Manchester City at the Etihad, Kulusevski showcased exactly why Neville believes he could soon be on the radar of clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Neville’s praise and Kulusevski’s rise
Neville, speaking on Sky Sports, discussed how Kulusevski’s all-around game has matured under manager Ange Postecoglou. It’s this development that Neville believes will soon see the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Real Madrid taking a closer look.
He said: “Kulusevski was and looks a serious player. He has become a hell of a player. His strength and running power is getting better, but he has a subtlety in beating players.
“He has a variation to his game now. He is a different player now. This is a player that the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid will begin to look at.
“I am not being disrespectful to Spurs, but that was the level of his performance and he has been like that for a while now. He was outstanding.”
Kulusevski’s focus should remain on Spurs’ success
While links to clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona will always capture headlines, Kulusevski’s immediate priority must remain with Spurs.
With Tottenham looking to challenge for silverware under Postecoglou, the Swede’s focus should be on achieving tangible success with his current club, rather than being distracted by speculation about potential transfers.
Neville’s comments underline just how much potential the 24-year-old has, but Spurs must hope that the bright lights of Madrid or Barcelona don’t disrupt what could be a truly transformative season for both player and club. For now, Tottenham can take pride in knowing they have a star whose talent is impossible to ignore.
