Barcelona complete first summer transfer as 22-year-old forward signs contract – report
Pau Victor was one of the sensations of Barça Atlètic’s stunning run last season. The player impressed on his loan stint under Rafa Marquez, scoring 20 goals and emerging as the top scorer in the league.
Despite having an option to make his transfer permanent for a fee of just €3 million, Barcelona did not pull the trigger earlier this summer.
Now, the club have reactivated the operation to sign the youngster. As revealed earlier today, they are looking to incorporate him into the first-team dynamics this summer and a deal was said to be close to complete.
Contracts being signed
Now, according to a massive update from Jijantes, Victor has already signed the contract that will make him a first-team member at Barcelona next season.
His friends and family were present at the player’s signing alongside Barcelona’s sporting director Pau Victor and the deal, at this point, is complete.
All that remains is an official announcement from the Blaugrana and the update can be expected anytime now.
In Victor’s signing, Barcelona have secured one of the most promising players of the subsidiary team last season.
An alternate report from SPORT states that Barcelona will be spending €2.5 million plus add-ons on the 22-year-old’s signing. The player is signing a three-year contract and will be part of the US pre-season tour.
Questions on Roque
Marc Guiu’s departure earlier this summer reduced the competition for the centre-forward position in Catalonia. Victor’s arrival, now, once again leaves the manager with three options in the department.
Robert Lewandowski will serve as Hansi Flick’s first-choice striker next season. The question, however, remains around the situation of Vitor Roque.
The Brazilian arrived in Catalonia only earlier this year but has not gotten many chances to prove his worth so far. With Barcelona now roping in another young talent, serious doubts arise over Tigrinho’s continuity at the club.
