Barcelona confirm contract extension for La Masia star Dani Rodríguez
One of Barcelona’s brightest young prospects will remain at the club for at least three more years as the Catalans confirmed on Friday that 19-year-old winger Dani Rodríguez has signed a contract extension until 2027.
Rodríguez broke into the Barça Atlètic side last season under Rafa Márquez and impressed with his one-on-one skills and ability to play on both wings, and quickly became a fan-favorite for those who follow Barça Atlètic on a regular basis.
There was hope for Dani to get some minutes in preseason under Hansi Flick but the youngster was called up for international duty with Spain, where he won the under-19 Euros with La Roja last month.
He will start the season with the reserve squad in the Third Division but there is plenty of excitement internally about the possibility of Rodríguez getting some first team minutes once Flick gets to work with the youngster, which is now possible as Dani’s vacation has ended and he’s back in training with the B team.
Dani’s extension is big news for Barça as the youngster was a target of several clubs around Europe, but the club has ensured the winger’s future will be at Camp Nou for at least three more years.
