Barcelona defender claps back at media criticism over French NT’s fashion choices

It was not uncommon to see Barcelona players dressed in quirky outfits before games last season under Xavi Hernandez and the variety was largely appreciated by fans and social media.

Hansi Flick’s arrival has seen that element cut out of Barcelona’s textbook routine with the German manager preferring his players focused on the game and nothing else.

However, the French national team camp is one place where players still dress up fashionably arriving for international duty.

The likes of Marcus Thuram, Jules Kounde and Ibrahima Konate have all made a name for themselves on that front, but it was only earlier this week that the French media first made noise about it lashing out at Didier Deschamps over allowing such practices.

Responding to the criticism in the French media over the player’s attire, Barcelona defender Jules Kounde was unfiltered with his reply on social media saying,

“But finally, gentlemen, you must not get carried away like that over such a small thing.
Faced with this abundance of kindness we no longer have a choice.”

He then took a subtle dig at the journalists involved and mocked them with a statement over how the team would dress in the future.

“The next meeting is a promise, we will all arrive with tracksuits, crampons on our feet, and not forgetting the parka if it rains, Mr. Larqué.”

Kounde is currently on duty with Les Bleus and is expected to participate in both the team’s games this hiatus. He received a much-needed rest in Barcelona’s latest clash and will return all guns blazing for the big games after the break.
