Barcelona hoping end is in sight for Nico Williams transfer saga
Barcelona’s hunt to bring in Nico Williams from Athletic Club has dominated headlines for weeks now but the saga does appear finally close to an end.
Williams is Barca’s top transfer target ahead of the new 2024-25 La Liga campaign and the Catalans are hoping a deal can be done.
Diario Sport are reporting that Barca are optimistic about Williams and expect a decision by the middle of next week. Fabrizio Romano also claims we’ll find out at the start of next week.
Barca are aware of interest in Williams from PSG but feel that he can be tempted to Camp Nou, particularly as he’s close to Lamine Yamal.
The presence of fellow Spain international such as Alejandro Balde, Pedri, Gavi and Ansu Fati may also help make the forward’s mind up.
Williams is currently on holiday, and has been spotted with Yamal, but is due to back Athletic Club for pre-season shortly.
A decision therefore needs to be made one way or the other, with Barca eagerly hoping that Williams will be in blaugrana next year.
