Barcelona in danger of losing academy sensation as contract talks stall – report
Gabriel Sans’ recent report in Mundo Deportivo has affirmed that Pau Prim’s future at Barcelona is currently in doubt.
The young midfielder’s contract is set to expire in June 2025, and as of now, there is no agreement between the club and his representatives to extend his stay.
It must be noted that Prim is represented by the same agency that handles Marc Guiu, who left Barcelona this summer for Chelsea, and despite ongoing discussions, both parties have yet to reach a solution.
At 18 years old, Prim is considered a key figure for Barça Atletic. His performances at this level have been impressive, but the situation regarding his contract remains unresolved.
The midfielder’s deal runs until 2025, and as the date approaches, Barcelona seem unable to make significant progress towards a renewal.
Why is he not featuring for Barcelona?
What makes the situation even more complicated is that despite Prim’s potential, he has not been given the chance to showcase his talent in the first team.
This season was expected to be a breakthrough for the teenager, particularly after the injury to Marc Bernal. However, the manager has opted for Eric Garcia, a more versatile option, leaving Prim without the opportunity many thought would come his way.
Prim’s contract technically expires in the summer of 2025, but with less than ten months left on the deal, there is growing uncertainty. Negotiations over a new contract have been slow, and the lack of progress might be a factor in his limited chances with the senior squad.
Earlier this year, Prim made the decision to remain with his current agency, despite interest from top firms like Jorge Mendes’ group. While talks about a new deal are ongoing, no concrete agreement has been reached, leaving his future at the club unclear.
This uncertainty surrounding Pau Prim raises questions about whether Barcelona will be able to secure the services of this promising young player in the long term.
With time running out, it remains to be seen if the club can make the necessary moves to retain his talent.
