Barcelona in quandary as superagent imposes condition over future of two players

Barcelona have some important decisions to make regarding their squad for the upcoming season as the summer transfer window is only a few days away.

The attacking unit could be set for a makeover this summer as there are question marks over the future of Raphinha and Vitor Roque while a new left-winger is also being sought.

Furthermore, Barcelona are yet to decide what they do with returning loanee Ansu Fati and whether to re-sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid or not.

Jorge Mendes sets condition

Now, though, according to journalist Victor Malo, superagent Jorge Mendes has imposed a condition on Barcelona as far as the futures of Ansu Fati and Joao Felix are concerned.

The Portuguese agent wants Barcelona to keep hold of at least one or both of Fati and Felix next season.

That is, if the Catalans opt to offload Fati, Mendes wants them to re-sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid. Conversely, if Barça opt to not bring the Portuguese attacker back, the agent wishes for the club to retain the La Masia forward’s services.

Mendes, who represents both the forwards, has a close relationship with Barça president Joan Laporta and played a key role in Lamine Yamal’s contract renewal as well as convincing the youngster to not participate in the Olympics.

As such, Laporta is keen to repay the favour and might have to give in to the superagent’s condition regarding Fati and Felix.

Recent reports have suggested that Barcelona are ready to sell Ansu while Felix could end up staying as Hansi Flick is confident of helping the Portuguese return to his best version.

However, it is not ruled out that both Joao Felix and Ansu Fati end up staying at the club as the latter could serve as a backup striker in case Vitor Roque is offloaded.

Barcelona find themselves in a tricky situation and must soon take a decision about whether they opt to stick with Fati or Felix or both.
