Barcelona meet 19-year-old La Masia prodigy’s agents to further renewal talks
Over the course of the summer, FC Barcelona successfully tied down several young talents from La Masia to new contracts.
The likes of Marc Bernal, Toni Fernandez, Guille Fernandez, and Dani Rodriguez, among several others, penned new deals, committing their future to the club.
Another teenage prodigy whose contract Barcelona are now working to extend is Unai Hernandez.
Barcelona hold talks with Unai’s agents
Indeed, according to Jijantes FC, Barcelona are moving to secure the future of 19-year-old Unai Hernandez, regarded as one of the club’s brightest young talents, whose current contract is set to expire in 2025.
The teenage winger from Badalona made a significant impact last season with Barça Atletic, catching the eye with his dribbling skills and ability to take on defenders.
Having finished the season with ten goals and seven assists, Hernandez attracted significant interest from several clubs across Europe during the summer.
But the teenager has always been clear about his desire to stay with Barcelona, and rejected all external offers.
Hernandez’s renewal has been in the works for some time and now, talks regarding his new contract have accelerated.
Indeed, yesterday, the player’s agents met with Barcelona’s directors at the Ciutat Esportiva to move the process forward.
Both sides agree that there is no rush to complete the extension for the young winger, and the renewal is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
Named one of the captains of Barça Atletic this season, the 19-year-old has scored one goal from four games. He has been called up to train with the senior team by Hansi Flick on several occasions.
Once the new deal is signed, the plan is for Hernandez to transition to the first-team dynamics, following in the footsteps of several of his fellow La Masia graduates.
