Barcelona midfield superstar does not trust the club’s medical services – report
The injury-enforced absence of FC Barcelona midfield superstar Frenkie de Jong is close to reaching five months now when it was initially expected that he would be out for about six weeks only.
With little to no clarity surrounding the situation, there is a lot of intrigue and concern building up among the fans, especially considering that Barça are left short-handed in midfield.
The possibility of undergoing surgery has been suggested to De Jong so that he can completely get rid of the issue and return to 100% fitness.
But the midfielder has refused that option as there are no guarantees that an operation would fully resolve the problem.
De Jong no longer trusts the club’s medical staff
Now, journalist Miguel Rico has sensationally claimed on Tot Costa that Frenkie de Jong does not trust the Barcelona medical staff at all.
Indeed, as per the journalist, the 27-year-old midfield superstar has no faith in the club’s medical department.
This is because he feels that he was given the green light to return to action prematurely by the club’s medical staff even though his injury was not fully healed – something that the Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman had previously claimed.
As such, De Jong does not wish to hear anything about surgeries or injections or basically anything from Barça’s medical department until he feels he is totally fine.
If true, this is indeed a very concerning matter for Barcelona.
De Jong has had his share of ups and downs at the club and his relationship with the administration is far from ideal. But not trusting the club’s medical department at all raises serious questions.
As things stand, the Dutchman has ruled out surgery, is still feeling discomfort in his ankle, and does not intend to return until he feels fully fit, making a date for his comeback extremely hard to predict.
