Barcelona plan to table €30 million + €5 million offer for Bundesliga champion
With the summer transfer window on the horizon, Barcelona are working overtime to return to the 1:1 rule, so that they can operate with greater freedom in the market.
Apart from a new midfielder and a left-winger, the Blaugrana are also in the market for a right-back and are understood to have identified Jeremie Frimpong as a key target.
The Bayer Leverkusen and Netherlands full-back has a release clause worth €40 million in his contract and is attracting significant interest from clubs in the Premier League as well.
Barcelona preparing an offer
As per SPORT, Barcelona are ready to make their move in order to sign Frimpong in the summer transfer window.
Even though he has a €40 million release clause in his contract with Bayer Leverkusen, the Blaugrana are planning to make an initial offer slightly lower than that amount.
Indeed, Barça intend to propose a deal worth €30 million in fixed fees and another €5 million in variables to take Frimpong away from Leverkusen.
The German champions, for their part, are expected to be open to negotiations unlike Athletic Club, who want Barça to pay Nico Williams’ full release clause amount.
Ansu Fati to be included in the deal?
In addition, the report suggests that Barcelona are also pondering the possibility of including Ansu Fati in the deal to sign Frimpong from Leverkusen.
The La Masia forward is back after a disappointing loan stint at Brighton & Hove Albion and is staring at an uncertain future, although Hansi Flick is said to be keen on giving him a chance in pre-season.
As such, while the option of offering him to Leverkusen as part of the Frimpong operation was raised, it is unlikely that Barcelona will follow through.
So, the proposal would be worth €35 million, including variables, as Flick angles for a move for the Dutchman, who he sees as a better fit into his scheme than Joao Cancelo, who is not tactically disciplined as far as the manager is concerned.
