Barcelona reach an agreement with Bournemouth for the €10 million sale of full-back
Having signed Dani Olmo earlier this week, FC Barcelona are now expected to focus on some outgoing deals in the coming days to generate revenue.
And, a certain Julian Araujo is already on his way out of the Catalan outfit with a transfer to Premier League club AFC Bournemouth now closed.
€10 million agreement reached
Indeed, according to journalist Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona and Bournemouth have reached an agreement for the transfer of Araujo to the English club for a fee worth around €10 million.
The operation is believed to be closed already with the Mexican international no longer being available to train under Barça manager Hansi Flick.
Araujo, 22, joined Barcelona from LA Galaxy in the January transfer window of 2023 but spent the next six months without any competitive football as his move was not authorised by FIFA due to some administrative issues.
The Mexican international then left Barcelona on loan to join UD Las Palmas last season, where he impressed under Garcia Pimienta.
As such, it was expected that Araujo might get a chance in the Barcelona first team this season as a backup right-back.
However, it became clear early in the pre-season matches that new manager Hansi Flick did not count on him as he preferred to use Alex Valle as a makeshift right-back ahead of Araujo.
There was interest in the Mexican from clubs in Spain, but Bournemouth emerged as the likeliest destination over the past couple of days and have now sealed the deal.
Araujo’s exit for approximately €10 million would be a welcome financial boost for Barcelona as they struggle to improve their Fair Play situation to register players.
More departures are expected to follow with players such as Clement Lenglet, Vitor Roque, and possibly even Ansu Fati likely to be sold.
