Barcelona sensation has enticing €20m release clause, figure set to increase throughout the season
Hansi Flick has placed his faith in La Masia during the early stages of his managerial career at Barcelona. One of the players relied upon is Marc Bernal, who’s greatly impressed during the opening two matches of the season.
Bernal has become the third 17-year-old (after Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi) to become a core member of the Barcelona first team, and he’s expected to continue playing a key role for the remainder of the season.
MD have published information on Bernal’s contract situation. His deal, which runs until 2026, has a release clause of just €20m. However, it will increase incrementally depending on the number appearances made: €25m after five (45+ minutes) appearances, €30m after another 10, and finally, €35m after an additional 15 (45 appearances in total).
Marc Bernal’s release clause will increase progressively as he reaches specific milestones in first team appearances. After his first 5 games, the clause will rise by 5 million euros to 25 million. It will increase by another 5 million (to 30 million) after the next 10 matches…

This figure is rather low for a player of Bernal’s potential, although Barcelona could offer him a new contract over the coming months. In the process, he could have his release clause significantly increased.
