Barcelona stars Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi shortlisted for 2024 Kopa Trophy
Barcelona youngsters Pau Cubarsi and Lamine Yamal have both been shortlisted for the prestigious Kopa Trophy.
The award will be handed out in October at the Ballon d’Or ceremony and goes to the best Under-21 player in the world.
Cubarsi and Yamal have both been nominated after stellar seasons for both club and country. They join young stars such as Savinho, Alejandro Garnacho and Warren Zaire-Emery in being nominated.
Here’s the full shortlist:
Yamal is the favourite to clinch the Kopa Trophy and follow in the footsteps of team-mates Pedri and Gavi who have both won the award in the last few years.
The teenage star has become a key player for club and country over the last 12 months despite the fact he only turned 17 in July.
Yamal was part of the Spain squad that won Euro 2024, while Cubarsi also enjoyed a successful summer and won gold with La Roja at the Paris Olympics.
