Barcelona superstar offers support to exit-linked starlet – ‘He has enough talent’

Vitor Roque’s time at FC Barcelona has been riddled with complications. Despite arriving with high expectations in January, the striker failed to feature regularly during Xavi’s tenure.

Talk of an exit has thus been doing the rounds with Saudi Arabia most recently vying to acquire Roque’s services.

However, the Brazilian has a golden opportunity to prove his doubters wrong on the US pre-season tour.

Sympathising with Roque’s difficulties, Robert Lewandowski has expressed an understanding of his performance and acknowledged the circumstances surrounding his arrival.

Lewandowski backs his teammate

Lewandowski defended Roque, noting that adapting to Barcelona is challenging and overcoming the language barrier can be particularly difficult.

“Coming to Barça is a big step for anyone, a new culture… and although Portuguese is similar to Spanish, it is still a different language. You have to trust in yourself, work hard,” he said via SPORT.

Furthermore, the Polish talisman professed that Roque has the talent to succeed at the club, but it all boils down to how much effort he is willing to put in.

“The summer is always a good time to analyse what one did wrong, what one can do better. He has enough talent, but what happens or can happen obviously depends on him,” the veteran striker remarked.

A decisive moment for Roque

All indications suggest that Vitor Roque will see playing time in the first three friendlies. With Ansu Fati injured and a limited number of first-team registered players available, the circumstances are in his favour.

Flick already gave him a starting role in the initial pre-season match against Olot, held behind closed doors at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

This tour could be crucial for Roque to prove to Flick that he can be a valuable asset to the team.

Flick’s preference for a more direct style of play should also work to the Brazilian’s advantage, as the 19-year-old thrives in attacking spaces and was accustomed to such a style at Athletico Paranense.
