Barcelona target faces uncertain future as Bayern Munich issue ultimatum
According to a report from BILD (h/t SPORT), it appears that Bayern Munich have laid down a clear ultimatum for their star full-back Alphonso Davies, who happens to be on Barcelona’s radar.
The German giants, who have recently raised their contract offer for the Canadian, have reportedly told him that if he does not renew soon, he should start looking for new options.
It is said that Bayern have pushed negotiations as far as they are willing, aiming to resolve the situation by the end of the year. However, Davies has yet to respond, and indications are that talks may collapse, potentially leaving him to explore his options elsewhere.
New offer for Davies
The outlet mentions that Vincent Kompany has been vocal about Davies’ value to the team and has urged the club to make one last attempt to retain him.
In response, Bayern adjusted their contract proposal, but they remain cautious about creating an imbalance in the dressing room by offering a massive signing bonus or an excessively high salary.
To make matters more complicated, Bayern’s relationship with Davies’ agent is strained, so most discussions now happen directly between the club and the player.
Barcelona on the horizon
At present, Davies has not agreed to terms with any team, but Barcelona’s interest in the full-back is clear. Barça’s sporting management approached Davies’ camp to understand his conditions and found that a transfer might be possible.
The defender is reportedly seeking a signing bonus of about €15 million and a yearly salary of approximately €10 million net.
While Barcelona are hopeful of securing Davies, they face competition from both Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Manchester United seem open to meeting the player’s financial demands, and Real Madrid have also been in touch with him and may be able to offer a competitive package.
However, Barcelona have a potential advantage with their current sporting success and the presence of Hansi Flick, who has a strong relationship with Davies from their time together at Bayern.
