Barcelona teenage wonderkid shares positive message after successful surgery
Earlier today, FC Barcelona confirmed in a statement that teenage sensation Marc Bernal had undergone successful knee surgery after having suffered an ACL rupture earlier this season.
The 17-year-old’s injury happened during the third La Liga game of the season against Rayo Vallecano and he is now set to be out for a period of one year as per the update from the club.
Bernal shares a positive message
Just 17 years old, Bernal was enjoying his breakthrough campaign with the Barcelona first team this season before the injury struck.
Given the nature of the injury and the lengthy time out on the sidelines, it is bound to be difficult for the La Masia talent, that too at a moment when he was making progress in his senior career.
Despite the setback, though, Bernal has maintained a positive outlook on the situation and shared a message of optimism with the fans on his social media after undergoing surgery today.
“One day less to go back to enjoying what I love the most. Thanks to everyone for the support,” Bernal wrote next to a snapshot of himself lying on the stretcher after the operation, with a thumbs-up.
Renewal imminent
Bernal signed a new contract with Barcelona until 2026 not long ago, but given his unmatched potential and talent, the Blaugrana are already working on a renewal for the 17-year-old.
Indeed, as reported earlier today, a new deal for Bernal is close to being sealed with Barça making the decision as a gesture of their total confidence and faith in him and his abilities.
