Barcelona training coach reveals what Lamine Yamal is lacking the most

Journalist Carles Fite recently revealed an insightful conversation he had with a Barcelona training coach, shedding light on Lamine Yamal’s development as a player.

While the young forward is widely regarded as highly talented and nearly perfect in terms of footballing ability, there is one area where he still needs improvement – managing his frustrations.

In an interview with Onze, Fite shared, “I spoke to a Barça training football coach and he told me that what Lamine lacked most was managing his frustrations.”

This is not uncommon for a player of his age, especially someone as passionate and driven as Yamal, who is eager to make an impact in every match.

There are signs

A clear example of this was seen during Barcelona’s game against Alaves. Yamal, who had been performing well, was substituted in the 67th minute, with Ansu Fati coming on as his replacement.

The young forward did not hide his frustration at the decision, visibly upset as he made his way to the bench.

However, given that Yamal is only 17 years old, such emotions are understandable. He wants to give his all in every game and feels the weight of each opportunity.

Hector Fort, seated beside Yamal on the bench, stepped in to offer support, trying to calm him down. Eventually, Yamal regained his composure and continued watching the rest of the match without further issue.

The change was justified

The incident, while minor, is a reminder that emotional control is something the young forward needs to work on as he continues to grow.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick’s decision to substitute Yamal was justified, given the scoreline and the importance of managing the player’s workload for upcoming matches.

Still, the frustration Yamal displayed is an area for growth, and addressing this will be crucial as he continues to mature both on and off the pitch.

Learning to channel his emotions in the right way will only help him become a more complete player in the long run.
