Barcelona ‘very pleased’ with former La Masia talent for waiting amidst heavy interest
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are immensely grateful to Dani Olmo, as despite receiving interest from major clubs like Manchester United and Bayern Munich, he is patiently waiting for Barcelona to sort out their financial fair play issues.
It is no secret that Olmo is highly valued at Barcelona for his versatility. The club sees him as a powerful player capable of playing on both wings, as an inside midfielder, and even as an attacking midfielder.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are also pursuing Nico Williams, ensuring they don’t lose track of Olmo in the process. The club is keen on securing his services from RB Leipzig, especially while Williams is still making his decision.
The Barcelona team, currently on tour in the United States, has hinted that a signing might occur during this tour, and it is believed that Olmo could be that signing.
Price is a problem for Barcelona
RB Leipzig have set a price of €60 million for Olmo. However, Barcelona hope to negotiate this amount, especially considering Olmo’s commendable behaviour last summer when he stayed with Leipzig despite receiving offers.
The club’s top executives aim to reach the €60 million mark through a combination of fixed fees and performance-based variables.
Barcelona’s current offer structure includes €47 million as a fixed amount for Leipzig, with an additional €3 million contingent on Olmo playing a certain number of games as a Barcelona player.
This condition is expected to be met easily, as Olmo is a favoured signing by both the sporting director Deco and coach Hansi Flick. This would make him one of the most frequently used players by Flick during his tenure at Barcelona.
The remaining €10 million to reach Leipzig’s asking price would depend on the titles Barcelona wins, including the La Liga championship. Barcelona believe this offer is fair and hopes it will secure Olmo’s transfer.
Barcelona are pleased and optimistic
Despite the financial constraints, Barcelona are very pleased with Olmo’s attitude. He is aware of the club’s salary fair play difficulties and still chooses to wait for them.
Meanwhile, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are closely monitoring Olmo’s situation, given his impressive club career and his fantastic performance in the recent European Championship with the Spanish national team.
Barcelona remains optimistic about adding Olmo to their squad. His patience and commitment to joining the Catalan club, despite interest from other top-tier teams, reflect his dedication and the mutual respect between him and Barcelona.
The club’s ongoing efforts to finalize this transfer highlight their determination to strengthen their squad while navigating financial challenges.
