Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen, Denmark advance to Euro 2024 Round of 16 with goalless draw against Serbia
Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen and Denmark secured qualification for the Euro 2024 Round of 16 thanks to a goalless draw against Serbia on Tuesday’s Group C finale in Munich, which ensures a second place finish for the Danes behind group winners England.
The game had very little excitement as Denmark’s plan was to control the action against a Serbian side that struggled throughout the tournament to create in attack, while the Danes showed their defensive organization in the first two games and once again had very little trouble at the back.
Christian Eriksen once again was the star of the show for Denmark, controlling possession and the tempo of the game for almost the entire night. Christensen and his teammates at the back put out the few fires that came along, and the Danes cruised to the result they needed.
Denmark’s qualification means 10 of the 11 Barça players in Euro 2024 will be in the Round of 16 with only Robert Lewandowski and Poland unable to advance, and those 10 will now be looking for a place in the quarterfinals once the knockout stages begin on Saturday.
