Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen opens up on injury problems, explains surgery decision
Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen has opened up on his current injury problems and his recent decision to undergo surgery.
The Dane has been out since August with Achilles problems and is not expected to play again this year for Barcelona.
Christensen has now told Barca One that his operation was a very minor procedure that is actually supposed to speed up the recovery process.
“I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
“We did a small, mini surgery. It’s so small that it can be considered cleaning. Nothing that’s going to affect my timeline.
“If so, it’s actually going to make it a little bit faster. I don’t want to put pressure on myself, but it’s going in the right direction and I think we turned a corner.”
The Denmark international also said he wants to make sure he’s 100% before making his long-awaited comeback.
“It’s very important I come back at 100%. If I come back 80% or 90% it’s not ideal for me or the team,” he added.
“The idea is to come back, and everyone who has been injured, to come back and help the team and ultimately the goal is to play games.”
It’s still unclear when we will see Christensen back in action, but let’s hope the end to his current problems is finally in sight.
