Barcelona’s €120 million-rated rising star leads latest Golden Boy 2024 rankings

Lamine Yamal’s brilliant summer has garnered significant attention across Europe. The young forward led Spain to their first European Championship since 2012.

Yamal has also enjoyed a stellar start to the new season, building a formidable attacking partnership alongside the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Dani Olmo and Raphinha.

Yamal’s performances have helped Barcelona secure four wins in four matches in La Liga this season. In fact, his stellar start to the season has seen him soar to the top of the latest Golden Boy 2024 rankings.

Another Golden Boy from Barcelona?

The Golden Boy 2024 rankings is a prestigious award that crowns Europe’s best young player aged 21 or under and it appears yet another Barcelona player is set to lay claim to the title.

Indeed, Yamal’s performances have now propelled him to the top of the rankings compiled by Football Benchmark for Tuttosport.

Yamal, who was recently labelled as the most differential player in the league, is ahead of PSG’s Joao Neves and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, who currently sit in second and third place, respectively.

The rankings, updated on September 2, will undergo further scrutiny ahead of October’s announcement of the 25 finalists at an event in Rome.

Barcelona’s rising star, known for his exceptional technical ability and maturity beyond his years, is widely tipped to remain a favourite to lift the Golden Boy award.

Lamine Yamal’s presence in the rankings underlines Barcelona’s continued production of top-tier talents from La Masia.

In 2022, Gavi won the prestigious award while Pedri won it the year before, though the latter is not a product of the La Masia academy.

If Yamal continues his meteoric rise, Barcelona may have yet another Golden Boy winner in their ranks.
