Barcelona’s Fermín López leads incredible comeback as Spain beat Morocco, reach Olympics Final

The legend of Fermín López continues to grow as the Barcelona midfielder was at the heart of Spain’s incredible 2-1 comeback victory over Morocco in Monday’s Olympics semi-final in Marseille.

La Roja played in a very hostile environment in a stadium filled with Moroccan fans, and found themselves behind just before halftime when Soufiane Rahimi scored a penalty to put Morocco in front.

Spain looked in serious jeopardy at times but Fermín was there to save the day again, scoring a brilliant equalizer with 25 minutes to go to give La Roja a shot at a comeback:

Fermín was not done making a huge impact though, as the Barça man assisted the winner finding Juanlu Sánchez who hit the back of the net with five minutes remaining and sent Spain to the Gold Medal Game.

The victory guarantees Spain at least a silver medal as they await the winner of the second semi-final between France and Egypt, but there’s a real chance Fermín’s incredible season will end with the Euro 2024 title and an Olympic gold medal.

What a summer. And what a player.
