Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal reveals why he was angry at being taken off by Hansi Flick against Alaves
Lamine Yamal has revealed why he was angry at being taken off by Hansi Flick during Barcelona’s win over Alaves at the weekend.
The teenager was clearly frustrated as he came off in the second half, with Flick doing his best to give him some rest during a demanding schedule.
Yamal has told RNE that his reaction was not due to the substitution but because he was not happy with his performance.
“No, I think that more than being angry, it was because I was not happy with my game, I demand a lot from myself and that is the line that I must follow to play at 100%,” he said.
The Barcelona star also said that he had spoken with Flick afterwards, as the Barca coach wanted to know why he had reacted in that way.
“He asked me why I was like that, whether it was because of the substitution or because of my game. I could have helped the team, I told him that I would be 100% ready for the next match.
“He is very close to everyone, to those who play more or less, veterans, he inspires a lot of confidence and that is noticeable in the team.”
Yamal is currently on international duty with Spain and preparing for Nations League fixtures against Denmark and Serbia.
