Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi relishing Olympic chance with Spain

Pau Cubarsi has joined up with the Spain squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics and admits he’s relishing the chance of going for gold with La Roja.

The teenager is one of three Barca players named in the squad, along with Eric Garcia and Fermin Lopez, and says he can’t wait to get started.

“It has been a very good season. Now we are looking forward to the Olympic Games, one of the biggest challenges a footballer can have, and we are approaching it with a lot of enthusiasm and hard work,” he told the media.

“I feel calm, I try to be myself and not deviate from who I really am, my family helps me a lot in that. I’m looking at it as I always do, as if I were just another youth player who works everyday to improve and try to achieve a challenge like winning the Olympic Games, which would be impressive.”

Spain’s first game of the tournament is against Uzbekistan on Wednesday 24 July. La Roja then go on to play the Dominican Republic and Egypt.
