Bayern Munich Alumni: FC Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski talks role as mentor
Former Bayern Munich star and current FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has evolved over the years.
Once, Lewandowski was an up-and-comer yearning to be shown the way in professional football. Now, the Polish Hitman is filling that role as a mentor to his younger teammates.
“I think with my experience and my age I can help them. There are players who have had a short time at Barcelona and they are very young, but I think going to the World Cup, for example, it will be useful to gain experience, that’s what happened to me,” Lewandowski said (as captured Barca Universal). “After my first major tournament with Poland, I became a better player. Of course, when next year begins, many of the youngsters in Barcelona will be better footballers. And not only with the ball but also when it comes to taking responsibility within the team. Time is in their favor.”
With Hansi Flick now at the helm, the new boss will surely take advantage of Lewandowski’s willingness to be a role model to his teammates, especially during this transition of power.
