Bayern Munich director denies reaching an agreement to sign Barcelona target in 2025

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah was a man in demand this past summer as clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich went hard after his signing.

However, in the end, Leverkusen refused to let go of the German international, even though his contract expires in 2025.

Tah, for his part, has already confirmed that he will not be signing a new deal with the current Bundesliga champions, and as such, is all set to leave as a free agent next summer.

Barcelona, for their part, remain very much interested in signing the 28-year-old centre-half while Bayern Munich are also in the hunt.

While the Bavarians do hold a strong interest in Tah, their director, Max Eberl, has dismissed speculations that there is already an agreement between them and the player over a free transfer next year.

“We do not have any deal agreed with Tah for 2025,” he told Sport1, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“He’s a German international, with a big role at Bayer. That’s it. I’m extremely happy with Kim and Upamecano,” Eberl added.

With there being no agreement between Bayern Munich and Tah over a transfer next year, it leaves the door open for Barcelona to make their move.

However, apart from the aforementioned two teams, a number of top clubs from the Premier League have also shown an interest in the German international, which could pose an issue for the Blaugrana.

Indeed, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea are all closely monitoring Tah’s situation as he will be available for zero transfer fees in the summer of 2025.

Tah will be able to negotiate with the club of his desire starting from January when he enters the final six months of his deal at Leverkusen. It will be up to Barcelona to move swiftly and close the deal.
