Bayern Munich director wants Barcelona target to stay ‘long-term and help shape an era’
Bayern Munich director Christoph Freund has provided an update on the ongoing contract discussions with Jamal Musiala, a player who has caught the eye of FC Barcelona.
Freund revealed that talks are continuously happening, with Bayern keen to extend Musiala’s contract.
The club is eager for him to remain long-term and play a significant role in shaping the future of the team. Freund expressed hope that these negotiations will conclude positively but emphasised that there is no immediate pressure to finalise the deal.
“There are always talks. We want to extend the contract. We want Jamal to stay with us long-term and help shape an era,” said Freund as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“Hopefully the talks will have a positive end. But there is no time pressure.”
Barcelona want Musiala
It has been reported that Barcelona have shown considerable interest in Musiala, viewing him as a potential signing for 2025, according to recent reports.
The Catalan club is hopeful that their financial situation will improve by next year, making such a significant acquisition feasible.
Musiala’s contract with Bayern is set to run until 2026. However, it is anticipated that several top European clubs will make a move for him next summer, possibly securing his services at a more affordable rate.
However, with a price of €130 million, Barcelona are expected to face intense competition from their long-time rivals, Real Madrid.
Musiala is Laporta’s dream
It has been suggested that Joan Laporta is particularly interested in Musiala, envisioning him as a key signing for Barcelona in 2025.
The club has a clear strategy to make two high-profile signings in the summer before the presidential elections, and Musiala is seen as a crucial part of this plan.
To secure such a major acquisition, Barcelona will need to navigate significant financial challenges.
Meanwhile, Hansi Flickis likely to play a pivotal role in this situation. The outcome of this pursuit will depend heavily on Barcelona’s financial stability and their ability to manage potential player sales.
Ultimately, though, Flick’s strong belief in Musiala’s potential could be crucial in persuading both the player and Bayern Munich to entertain an offer from Barcelona.
