Bayern Munich winger not a priority target for Barcelona new manager – report

The appointment of Vincent Kompany is set to bring forth a host of changes to the Bayern Munich squad this summer, with the club notably interested in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.

The same logic applies to FC Barcelona as well, with Hansi Flick looking to bring in a set of new players in an attempt to add more quality to the squad.

Interestingly, Flick is reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich forward Kinsley Coman, who worked under his leadership during his time in Bavaria.

Coman not a serious option

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has offered a fresh update on the future of Kingsley Coman.

Contrary to recent reports, Plettenberg claims the Bayern forward is not a serious option for Barcelona at the moment.

He suggests that Barcelona’s interest in the Frenchman is not concrete at the moment. In fact, he is not a priority transfer for Hansi Flick right now.

The German tactician appears more determined to bring in a new midfielder. Javi Guerra has emerged as a potential target for the Catalans lately, though there are no shortage of alternatives.

Bayern open to a sale

Bayern Munich, for their part, are open to selling Coman in the coming summer. The Frenchman’s potential exit could be a part of Kompany’s reshuffling plans at Allianz Arena.

Bayern’s desire to offload Coman is hardly surprising either as the winger is one of the top earners at the club, with a salary package of €15 million. He also has a contract that does not expire until 2027.

With respect to his hefty salary, Coman has offered very little in terms of productivity and contributions to Bayern. His injury woes have sustained and the player is nowhere near his top form.

That is perhaps why Bayern are so keen on getting rid of the former Juventus and PSG star. Barcelona, therefore, must proceed with caution should they revisit their interest in Coman in the near future.
