Córdoba drops seven, including Barça Atlètic’s executioner

Córdoba, after securing promotion to the Second Division with a victory in the playoff final against Barcelona Atlètic (1-1 and 2-1), announced on Thursday the players who will not be returning for the upcoming season. The list includes Lluís Tarrés, Iván Rodríguez, Carlos García, Recio, Álvaro Leiva, Simo Bouzaidi, and Alberto Toril.

Among those who were on loan, Álvaro Leiva and Carlos García will not be continuing as Córdoba CF players after their loan spells from Real Madrid Castilla and Cádiz CF, respectively.

Players with expiring contracts also bid farewell, starting with Lluís Tarrés, who made three appearances as a substitute goalkeeper in a memorable season in the First Federation after being promoted to the first team last summer.

Another player, Iván Rodríguez, who joined the team last year, played 22 games and scored a goal during his one-season stint with the Andalusian club.

Midfielder Recio is also leaving the team after his contract was not renewed, having played a total of 606 minutes for Córdoba CF.

The departure of Alberto Toril has left a big impact on the fans, especially after his heroics in the playoff final against FC Barcelona Atlètic. Toril, who scored three goals in that match, will not be part of the team in the upcoming season. He is reportedly considering a better offer from Alajuelense in Costa Rica.

The most heartbreaking defeat for Córdoba was losing Simo Bouzaidi, who became a fan favorite after joining the team in the 2021/22 season. Bouzaidi played a key role in two promotions and winning the RFEF Cup.
