Dani Olmo’s registration still at risk despite Barcelona’s salary limit increase – report

La Liga has recently announced the cost limits for the sports squads of the clubs in Spain’s top two divisions, drawing significant attention to FC Barcelona’s ongoing financial struggles.

Although the Blaugrana have managed to improve their situation, increasing their salary cap from €204 million in the last winter market to €426 million this summer, they remain in a precarious position.

Despite the increase, Barcelona are still exceeding the allowed limits and unable to return to the 1:1 rule.

Barcelona running the risk of losing Dani Olmo registration

Amid Barcelona’s persistent economic problems, the club are facing a rather arduous task – meeting La Liga’s economic restrictions by January 1.

In fact, Barça stand to face a major penalty if they fail to meet La Liga’s requirements, as the club could lose summer signing Dani Olmo, reports MARCA.

If the club does not resolve its economic troubles by January 1, Olmo will no longer be registered and, consequently, unable to play.

After all, it must be remembered that the 26-year-old new signing was only registered by making use of the salary space created due to Andreas Christensen’s extended absence through injury.

This could be a major blow as Olmo has emerged as a key driver behind Barcelona’s tremendous start to the new season, notably racking up two assists and a few excellent performances.

Therefore, Barcelona must quickly find solutions that can help them unburden the salary bill.

Sealing the new deal with Nike could be a good start, but the two parties are yet to reach an agreement, with La Liga even issuing a warning to ‘clear out accounts’.

Another way would be to secure a new investor to cover the Barça Vision payments. But Joan Laporta & co. must find a solution soon.
