FC Barcelona Announces Attacker Transfer

FC Barcelona has announced the signing of another attacker through an email that was sent to members of the press.

“FC Barcelona and SD Ponferradina have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Raul Dacosta,” a statement on the matter began.

“The attacker joins Barca Atletic and will sign a contract for the next two seasons, remaining tied to the Club until June 30, 2026.

“The Galician footballer has passed the medical tests, has seen the FC Barcelona facilities and this Saturday he will join the training of the Blaugrana subsidiary under the orders of Albert Sanchez. The official act of signing the contract will be pending,” the correspondence concluded.

This development is the third transfer the Catalans have announced this week.

On Monday, Barca revealed that a deal had been struck with Los Angeles FC to sign Mamadou Ibra Mbacke Fall permanently.

Mbacke starred for Barca Atletic on loan last season and was impressive in central defense.

There was talk of him possibly being promoted to the first team, or at least training with it, which was why some fans were confused by the Senegalese center back bidding farewell to them and the club.

A fortnight ago, however, SPORT reported on there being an agreement in place between Barca and LAFC, and this has proven true.

Pau Victor found himself in a similar predicament, in that he too was brought in on loan for Rafa Marquez’s reserve outfit and raised eyebrows with 20 goals across the season.

Barca allowed an option to buy him permanently from Girona for $3.2 million (€3 million) before June 30 expire, which felt like a misstep.

Almost a month later, though, Pau Victor has been bought outright for what SPORT says could prove a bargain $2.7 million (€2.5 million) plus variables.

He’ll be taken on the preseason tour of the United States, which Barca heads out on this weekend, and will become a member of Hansi Flick’s first team to provide positional rivalry to Robert Lewandowski and back up for the veteran.

That trajectory is one that Mbacke and Dacosta would presumably like to echo.

Mundo Deportivo explains that 22-year-old Dacosta previously passed through the academies of Celta Vigo, Real Madrid, and Espanyol.

Akin to Pau Victor, he delivered strong performances in the Primer RFEF last term by notching three goals and six assists across 23 performances.

He now has to convince Rafa Marquez’s successor Albert Sanchez that he deserves regular playing time, with Barca Atletic’s season getting underway on August 25 at home to Real Union.
