FC Barcelona Set To Make Huge Profit On Player Sale Reports Jijantes

FC Barcelona is set to make a considerable profit on one of its players by selling him for three times what they paid a year ago according to transfer market expert Gerard Romero’s Jijantes outlet, which cited anonymous sources.

Barca was hailed for having pulled off a coup when beating the likes of Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund to Mika Faye last summer.

Fabrizio Romano explained that Barca would pay $5.3 million (€5 million) plus add-ons to the youngster’s Croatian club NK Kustosija.

Faye joined the Catalans and was swiftly taken on their preseason tour of the US. Though now-fired head coach Xavi Hernandez did not give Faye his senior debut, the club legend regularly called him up to train with the first team as he made 33 appearances for reserve outfit Barca Atletic.

There was talk that Faye would finally make the step up to the elite in 2024/2025 under Xavi’s successor Hansi Flick, but an “overbooking” of central defenders meant that it would not be easy to dislodge the likes of Pau Cubarsi and Ronald Araujo from the heart of the back line.

A week ago, Romano was back on Faye’s case by breaking news of a formal proposal Porto made for the Senegalese.

The Portuguese plan on having Faye as a “key player for their project”, and therefore tabled a $16 million (€15 million) offer for him.

A week later, Jijantes has reported that Faye will indeed become a Porto player with these “decisive hours” to close the deal on Tuesday afternoon across the Iberian Peninsula.

The 19-year-old’s agent is in the north Portuguese city at the moment “outlining the details of the operation”.

As Romano reported, this involves something around a $16 million fee as Barca trebles its outlay on Faye, but also a buyback clause.

This could prove to be a master stroke from Sporting Director Deco and President Joan Laporta if – like many youngsters at one of the best clubs in Europe for bringing them on – Faye begins to blossom at Porto.

He certainly has his best years ahead of him, and could one day become the perfect partner to Cubarsi as Araujo ages, or back up for when one of the duo needs a rest.
