FC Barcelona would have the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor resolved before January
FC Barcelona still has pending registrations for its only two reinforcements for 2024/25, Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, for the second half of the season. The club’s financial problems forced the board to take advantage of Andreas Christensen’s absence to register the former RB Leipzig midfielder until December 31, while the former captain of the Barça reserve team was also registered until the end of the year, unlike Iñigo. Martínez, who did enter the culé payroll for the entire course.
In this regard, the corporate general director of LaLiga, Javier Gómez, explained to ‘Mundo Deportivo’ that, although the registrations of both players were within the norm established by the competition, they will only be able to play from January if the club generates enough ‘Fair Play’ to return to the 1/1 rule before next December 31 or, failing that, close the sale of a player or club assets during the winter market that cover enough money to cover the operations.
Barça paid 55 million to RB Leipzig for the transfer of Olmo, while Víctor was acquired as property for 2.7 ‘kilos’, an amount that the culés paid to the owner of his transfer, Girona. The playmaker had a spectacular start to the season, with 3 goals in his first 3 League games, but an injury to his right thigh left him in the infirmary for three weeks. The former striker of the reserve team, for his part, added residual minutes in the first 3 days of LaLiga and, so far, has only played one game as a starter (against Osasuna), where he scored his first official goal as a culé.
The new contract with Nike, key to resolving the registrations of Olmo and Víctor
Although Barça is still exceeding its salary margin, the board considers the registrations of Dani and Pau resolved thanks to the money that the club will receive through the new contract with Nike. The agreement with the American multinational will leave around 150 million euros net in the culés’ coffers as a renewal bonus, enough money to update all the squad’s contracts.
In principle, Barça and Nike will extend their relationship until 2034, an agreement that should be officially announced at the next ordinary assembly, scheduled for October 19. If Barça does not update the records of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, both would be left out of the squad for the first official match of 2025, on January 11 against Mallorca. However, this scenario would already be completely ruled out.
