Gavi shares Pau Cubarsi update after defender has 10 stitches after Barcelona win

Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi needed to have 10 stitches after being kicked in the face during the team’s Champions League win over Crvena Zvezda on Wednesday.

Cubarsi had to go off after the clash with striker Uroš Spajić and was seen to be bleeding heavily as he made his way off the pitch in Belgrade.

The 17-year-old went straight down the tunnel with the team’s medical staff and then needed 10 stitches to close the wound, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Gavi also offered an update on Cubarsi with a post on Instagram showing the defender’s patched up face.

There’s no doubt that it’s a nasty moment for Cubarsi but the good news is that he’s been patched up and hopefully is feeling a lot better now.

Hansi Flick also offered a positive update on the 17-year-old after Barcelona’s 5-2 win in Belgrade.

“Cubarsí is fine, he has a scar. He is young and will recover,” he told reporters.

Barcelona will now head back to Spain for a weekend trip to Real Sociedad.
