Hansi Flick counting on Alex Valle to be Alejandro Balde’s back-up next season at Barcelona

New Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is set to give Alex Valle a chance to be part of the first-team squad for next season.

Valle spent last season on loan at Levante but now has a great chance to stake a claim to be Alejandro Balde’s back-up, according to multiple reports from Spain.

The imminent departure of Marcos Alonso means there’s a place up for grabs in the squad, and a shortage of left-backs, which is good news for Valle.

Barcelona are said to have met with the 20-year-old’s agent this week to confirm he will be part of the squad when pre-season training starts in July and the idea is that he stays on.

If that proves to be the case, then Barca will want to sort out a new contract for Valle as his current deal expires in 2025.

Valle spent last season on loan with Levante, making 29 appearances in the Segunda Division as the team finished the season in eighth place.
