Hansi Flick offers update on Barcelona star Gavi’s recovery from knee surgery
New Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has offered an update on Gavi’s current progress as the midfielder recovers from knee surgery.
Gavi has been out of action since last year after suffering a serious injury while on international duty with Spain that required surgery.
The midfielder has been spotted on the training ground at Barcelona in recent weeks, raising hopes that he may not be too far away from a return.
Flick says it’s great to see him back in action but says there’s no rush for him to make his long-awaited comeback.
“I’m really happy to see him on the pitch every day. He’s doing good but he needs time. He’s a great player and I have to thank all the coaches who are around him and helping him,” he told reporters.
“Ok he is coming back, but there is no pressure on him. He’s 20 years old, so maybe he can play 10, 15 years more without injury. So we have to take care of him now for his future.”
There have been various conflicting reports flying about regarding when Gavi will be available once again. A return date is not yet known but there’s no doubt that when he does finally come back it will be a huge boost for Barca.
