Hansi Flick reveals what he said to Nico Williams after Barcelona’s win over Athletic
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick was spotted giving Nico Williams a warm embrace and exchanging a few words with the Athletic star after Saturday’s 2-1 win at Montjuic.
The exchange has got social media all excited, particularly after a summer where Barcelona have spent weeks trying to land Nico Williams.
Flick was asked about Nico Williams after the game and was happy to reveal what he said to the Euro 2024 star.
“My hug for Nico Williams? I just congratulated him on the Euros. I don’t like to talk about rivals,” he said.
Williams looks set to stay with Athletic Club for the season now after Barca’s interest faded. Premier League side Arsenal have also been credited with an interest but a move does not appear likely this summer.
The forward made his first start of the season against Barcelona but couldn’t get on the scoresheet as Flick’s side made it two wins out of two so far in La Liga.
