Hansi Flick says Lamine Yamal could return to Barcelona squad for Las Palmas clash
Barcelona face French side Brest in their fifth Champions League League Phase match on Tuesday and will be without their teenage superstar once again as Lamine Yamal will miss a third consecutive game due to an ankle injury.
The Blaugrana lost to Real Sociedad and dropped two points against Celta Vigo in the first two games without Yamal, and will be looking to finally get a victory with Lamine not involved.
But it looks as though Tuesday’s match will be the last with Yamal out of the squad, and Hansi Flick gave an update on the winger’s status and revealed he could be back on the bench for Saturday’s La Liga clash against Las Palmas.
Flick also explained what Barça are missing due to Yamal’s absence, which shows just how badly the coach wants the 17-year-old back in the lineup.
“Lamine has a quality that allows you to control the ball but also allows the opponent to give us more space. I think and hope that this is the last game he misses because today he was very good [in training] but we will have to wait. I hope that on Saturday he will be an option, perhaps from the bench, but we will see.”
Barça should be favorites to win at home against Brest even with Lamine on the sidelines, but that was also supposed to be true against Sociedad and Celta. Hopefully third time will be the charm.
