Hansi Flick talks up ‘incredible’ Robert Lewandowski after being reunited with striker at Barcelona

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has been talking up Robert Lewandowski after being reunited with the striker in Catalunya.

Lewandowski was back at Barcelona on Monday for pre-season training following his exploits with Poland at Euro 2024 this summer.

Flick and Lewandowski enjoyed a great relationship at Bayern which both will be eager to replicate now at Barcelona.

Here’s what the German has had to say about the veteran striker:

“Robert inside the area is incredible. He has something that I have missed these days in training, he has the goal in his blood. He doesn’t need many chances to score goals. Now we need many chances to score in training, but he doesn’t need that,” he told Barca One.

“To be successful it is crucial to be close to the players. Give them the confidence they need to perform at 100%. When I meet with them I ask them questions, sometimes they are surprised. We need these discussions and I need to know what they think. My door will always be open.

“What I want is for the veterans to help the youngsters improve and form this connection with them so they grow.”

Lewandowski won the Pichichi in his first season at Barcelona but wasn’t quite as prolific last time around. He still finished as Barca’s top scorer and boasts a record of 59 goals and 17 assists in 95 appearances for the club.
