Hansi Flick tipped to use Toni Fernandez as Lamine Yamal’s back-up at Barcelona
Barcelona have lost Lamine Yamal to injury with an ankle problem that is expected to keep him out for two to three weeks.
The loss of the teenager has been keenly felt. Indeed Barca’s only two defeats of the season have been against Real Sociedad and Osasuna when Yamal was missing.
Hansi Flick therefore needs to find an alternative on the right of the attack, for when Yamal is out, and is being tipped to turn to 16-year-old Toni Fernandez.
The youngster is currently out injured, also with an ankle problem, but is being tipped to be Yamal’s back-up when he returns to fitness.
Diario Sport report that Flick sees him able to play as a false right winger and potentially the best bet to play back-up to Yamal.
Fernandez is expected to be available again in three weeks and will be hoping for minutes when he does return.
Flick does have other options on the right, such as Ferran Torres and Fermin Lopez, but the suggestion is he could be willing to trust in youth once again.
