‘I felt good’ – Jules Kounde opens up on his battle with Nico Williams
Barcelona defender Jules Kounde spoke about taking on Nico Williams after playing a key role for the Catalans in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Ernesto Valverde’s side.
Hansi Flick backed Kounde to “take care” of Williams before the game, and the Frenchman duly obliged with an impressive showing.
Kounde facing the media after the win and was certainly very happy with his performance.
“I felt good, it’s a good challenge to face Nico and I’m delighted with how it turned out,” he told the media.
“The coach wants us to press high, to be dynamic, to go for more goals, I think we’ve understood that well and we’re doing it. He wants to play with intensity and strength.
“That’s what we need in games like this.”
Williams notably didn’t dribble past Kounde even once during the 90 minutes.
There’s been plenty of talk about the right-back slot this summer but it could well be that Kounde ends up playing the position all season.
