Injury-prone Barcelona forward likely to returns in Champions League opener after 389 days

According to a recent report by Javier Miguel from AS, it looks like Ansu Fati will finally be available for Barcelona’s Champions League opener against Monaco next Thursday.

This match will mark a significant moment as it will be his first appearance for Barcelona in a long time—specifically, 389 days.

It must be noted that although Ansu has been training with the team all week, he still has a bit of a wait before he can fulfil his dream of playing in an official match for Barcelona once again.

His last appearance in a Barcelona shirt was on August 27, 2023, in a game against Villarreal, where he came on as a substitute in the 76th minute for Lamine Yamal.

Following that match, Ansu was loaned out to Brighton in the English Premier League. His time there was filled with ups and downs, and he struggled with injuries more often than not.

This week, Ansu returned to group training with Barcelona, bringing a significant boost to the team. There was hope that he might be ready for the upcoming match, but he was not included in the squad list.

Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick, explained the situation, stating: “We are happy to have him with us again. In the coming weeks, he will have a chance and that is good for the team.”

Flick’s comments reflect the positive outlook surrounding Ansu’s return. The player’s presence in training has been a welcome development, and while he may not feature immediately, his recovery and reintegration into the squad are seen as important steps forward.

Barcelona’s coaching staff and supporters are optimistic that Ansu’s comeback will bring a fresh dynamic to the team. His return could provide a much-needed spark and help Barcelona achieve their goals for the season.

The next few weeks will be crucial as he works towards regaining full fitness and finding his rhythm on the field once again.
