‘I’ve dreamed about this!’ – Pau Víctor reacts to star performance for Barcelona in El Clásico
Pau Víctor is Barcelona’s newest young star following his two-goal performance that won Barça El Clásico against Real Madrid in their second preseason match in the United States, after Víctor had already impressed in his debut against Manchester City early in the week.
The two goals were the icing on the cake of a very impressing showing by the young forward, who was signed from Girona this summer after a great season on loan at Barça Atlètic last year and is already making a pretty strong case to be a first team player this season.
Víctor spoke to the press after the game, still euphoric after his brilliant night against Barça’s biggest rival, and spoke about realizing his childhood dream and his desire to win over Hansi Flick’s trust and be part of the senior squad this season.
“If you told me a year ago that I would be scoring twice against Courtois in a Clásico in the United States, I wouldn’t have believed you. I am very proud of what I’m doing, I’ve dreamed about this moment all my life. I’ll continue to give everything, I’ll give my all in every training session.
“One of the thing Flick values in me is I can play in all three positions in attack. My favorite position is central striker, but I’ll give everything in any position.”

Víctor started on the right wing during his hour-long cameo but showed a great ability to read the game and be in different places on the pitch depending on the situation, and that versatility and intelligence is definitely giving him a real shot at a first team spot this season.
What a story. And what a player.
