Jadon Sancho is Barcelona’s Plan B should they fail in their pursuit of Nico Williams – Man United News And Transfer News

It was a major surprise to see Jadon Sancho back in pre-season training at Manchester United’s Carrington training ground a couple of weeks ago.

It seemed the Englishman was destined to be sold after a huge bust-up with Erik ten Hag last season. The manager had called out the versatile forward over his lacklustre training displays and the player reacted in the worst way possible.

He put out a statement on social media against the Dutchman while his camp accused him of offering preferential treatment to certain recruits.

The former Manchester City academy graduate refused to apologise, despite the best efforts of his teammates, and he was subsequently banished from the first team.

Sancho-EtH bad blood

With his value depreciating by the day, United chose to send the England international out on loan to former club Borussia Dortmund in a bid to help reignite his career and in the process attract potential suitors.

Sancho’s temporary stint ended on a high as he helped the Bundesliga outfit reach an unlikely Champions League final but Dortmund still refused to meet United’s asking price and instead were looking for a cut-price deal or another loan.

Even Juventus were eyeing the same kind of deal, something INEOS were hellbent against. That is when the manager and the player buried the hatchet and the 24-year-old returned to training after almost 10 months.

He started the game against Rangers last weekend but United remain open to the player’s departure should a sizeable offer come their way.

Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly interested and now according to what Teamtalk have relayed, even Barcelona are looking at the United star. He is their Plan B should a move for Nico Williams not materialise.

Barca want Sancho

The Euro 2024 champion has a release clause of just under £50 million, but the La Liga giants are struggling to cough up the requisite amount with Arsenal also sniffing around.

The Athletic Bilbao star is their primary target and only if they fail to land the Spaniard will Barcelona move on to Sancho.

But how the Camp Nou outfit will manage to find the money for Sancho, who has a similar asking price, has not been made clear in the article. It is clear that any loan offer will quickly get rebuffed by the new co-owners.

It is clear from recent reports that the Sancho saga is far from over. Juve and Dortmund have also not given up and things are expected to get clearer as the end of the window approaches.
